Yamakarra everyone,
We are excited to reannounce the first Mawonga camp for 2024! The camp will take place over the weekend of June 15th and 16th. Some participants may like to arrive the day before for early setup and preparation. Please mark your calendars and join us for a weekend filled with cultural activities, learning, and community bonding.
Event Details:
- Date: Saturday, June 15th - Sunday, June 16th, 2024
- Location: Shearing Quarters, Mawonga Property
- Accommodation: Five rooms available for elderly and families with young children. Ample camping space is available.
- Meals: All meals will be provided, but attendees with special dietary needs are kindly requested to manage their own arrangements.
- Beverages: Water, tea, and coffee will be available. Please note that the event is alcohol-free.
- Facilities: Two toilets and a single "donkey hot water shower" will be available. A new shower toilet block is under construction for future events.

Saturday, June 15th
- 9:00 am : Breakfast
- 10:00 am : Baby smoking ceremony at the Nelia tree patch
- 12:00 pm : Lunch
- 2:30 pm : Ngiyampaa naming activity with Zoe
- 6:00 pm : Dinner
Sunday, June 16th
- 9:00 am : Breakfast
- 10:00 am : Children's painting with Zoe
- 12:00 pm : Lunch
- 1:00 pm : Conclusion of the first cultural camp 2024
Accommodation Directions:
- The Shearing Quarters are located 6 kilometres from Coombie Road along the station's dirt track. Please be cautious of water humps along the track.
- Turn right at the Shearing Quarters sign at the 5.2 kilometre mark. Detailed maps are available on the Winangakirri Aboriginal Corporation website under Mawonga Station drop down menu and select Mawonga Property Boundary and or Camps and Tours.
